Children's Dance Theatre of Fairhope's
Mission Statement

Our Mission:
The purpose of Childrens Dance Theatre is to produce highly creative and entertaining literature based Theatre/Dance productions for public and private schools. Recognizing that the school children of Fairhope and the county have little to no exposure to the performing arts and acknowledging the U.S. Department of Educations position that High-quality programs effectively integrating and enhancing
arts instruction are increasingly important as students face the demands of the information age in the 21st century. Creating, performing, and responding to works of art builds creativity, self-confidence, and critical thinking skills
- qualities central to success in school, work, and life.
Benefit to School Children:
The Monday and Tuesday before Thanksgiving, approximately 2500 school children (that is over 75,000 children in the past 30 years) are bused in to see a Childrens Dance Theatre (CDT) production.  This performance contributes to their much needed arts in education curriculum.

In 2010 and 2011 we sponsored 150 students from Elsanor, a Title one school, to experience theatre arts. We plan to expand in 2012.

The productions are offered for all area school-age children with no exclusions.    Many special education classes have attended throughout the years.

CDT provides exposure to theatre arts at a nominal fee.

Teachers are provided with educational packets that reinforce the educational aspects of the production.
Benefit to the Town of Fairhope:
We loan our scenery, props, and costumes, free of charge to area schools and churches.

We have purchased a floor covering for the stage that we let other groups use.
